Years ago, I found this heavy old magazine holder in a thrift store...and it collected dust in my garage until very recently. I decided to transform it into the perfect piece for my family's rental cabin- click HERE for the full tutorial and DIY details!
When I find a nice, clean, heavy wooden piece at a thrift store, I can't really help myself...because there are so many ways to upcycle or repurpose it. And this magazine holder "thingamabob" was no exception!
Because my in-laws have a GORGEOUS rental cabin in the mountains, I decided to repurpose it as a brochure holder to put in the cabin. Maps, pamphlets, local menus, etc. could be stored inside! But first...a quick stencil for some mountain detail...
Hurray- my stenciling turned out nicely!! But I felt like the brochure holder needed another detail to make it even more useful...
Leather pockets on the sides for local business cards! Check out the fun item I repurposed to make them here - and I added a larger one on the back for even more storage!
Now it's ready for all the renters that visit the area...with ideas for day trips, hikes, and places to shop & eat. The Mountains are calling and I Must Go...indeed!
