Polymer Clay Incense Holder

1 Material
Incense is kind of a love-it-or-hate-it type of thing. Either you love the smell and have it burning constantly or it reminds you of a dirty hippie and makes you nauseous. Personally, I like it but only in small doses until it starts making me feel sick. This incense holder uses one package of polymer clay so you can make it for the very cheap price of about $2. I used purple Sculpey brand clay from Michaels but you can use FIMO or similar clay brands.

Begin by making a marble sized ball out of the clay. Then, make smaller petal shaped pieces. Stick the petal pieces to the side of the ball and pinch the top. Work your way around the adding petals until it resembles a flower.
Poke the end of an incense stick into the center of the flower and pull it out. Cook the flower in an oven safe dish according to the directions on the package. In my case, 275 degrees for 15 minutes.

Oh my gosh --- memories!! My Dad has a baby sister, who was 9 when I was born. So, she was a teenager in the late '60s & early '70s. She always let me hang out with her when I'd stay at my grandparents. SHE ALWAYS was burning incense. This was such a flash back and put a smile on my face. I have some polymer at home and will now buy some incense.

I love the flower! I burn incense every day, (child of the 70's) and usually use a pretty bowl filled with fine sand as my holder. I would LOVE to make this flower! Thank you so much for this idea!
