  • The eternal dilemma, right? Try to find pieces of furniture that do double duty, or fold up even. Use your walls to hang things on, like pots and pans. Shelving is great as you can go all the way up the wall.

    Hello Karen,

Downsizing several times Ive learned to maximize all available storage options. Im also cursed with the lack of storage closets too.

In the kitchen maximize cupboard storage utilizing various storage bins baskets and elevating wire racks in all cabinets above and below countertops. You might consider using the backside of the cabinet door too. Purge the things you dont need or store other things that you don’t use often in another area of the house....like under the bed, garage or basement closet. Put you beds on risers and use low profile totes and spacebags under the beds. Switch out summer and winter wardrobes. Some people use storage Ottomans or trunks as coffetables to hide extra items as well. Lastly the beds with drawers below the mattress are options too.

More storage is possible if you go vertical.
  • Do you have any storage cubes or storage ottomans yet?

Bed Bath & Beyond sell them too. These I purchased off of either HSN or QVC. They fold up when not in use.

Add shelves above the shelves already in closets. There frequently is enough space for a couple of shelves to store things that aren't used very much. Under the beds holds a lot of things. Use under the bed boxes and the bags you suck down with a vacuum for things like out of season clothes, they both will hold a lot. If you put risers on your bed, you should be able to stack two on top of each other. If you have a basement, go to places like restore and get upper and lower kitchen cabinets to store things like kitchen small appliances and larger pans that aren't used as much. You can also do this in the garage. If you have the space in the basement or garage, use the metal shelves that are reasonable priced to put in storage bins or boxes.
