Debbie I love space bags. They are great for comforters or seasonal clothing. They flatten to a much thinner space. Butt hey donget heavy!

Shoe box sided plastic boxes are great for small things. Also, getting rid of things is a good way clean out. Believe it or not boxes are great!

Here is a website that lets you design storage for all kinds of situation. You may be able to get ideas and see what it would look like before buying anything. https://designer.organizedliving.com/

Most of us have 8' tall ceilings, but if you look at your closet there is most likely only 1 shelf at about 5.5'-6' height. Consider installing additional shelves up above to store the off season items. Also, if you only have one hanging rod, you may be seeing a ton of open space from the floor to the 3 foot level. Think about installing a second rod all the way across or keeping a couple feet for full length items and doing double rods in the balance of closet. Open the doors and view your closet as cubic feet not just in 2 dimensions. Also, and this one is the most simple but really hard to do...Reduce and de-clutter. If you have not worn it in a year or it does not fit you - let it go. None of us need more than 2 or 3 sets of sheets. When my dearest and I moved in together...his ex wife had...are you ready...27 sets of sheets for a 4 bedroom home. We kept 2 for our bed and 1 set each for the other beds since nobody lives in those rooms. I gained an entire linen closet of space. Just take a real good look at what you store in your space. With property values over $300/sq ft. in our area I do not intend to waste my space on storing "stuff" I dont like love or use.

    Cheers.

  • Make sure to use every single inch of vertical space to your advantage - if there is any room above, install a small shelf. If there's room between the door and your clothing, hang hooks or shoe pockets on the inside of the door. And vacuum sealed bags are definitely handy!
