I use large plastic totes. If you get the opaque ones you can see what’s inside without opening it. This is especially helpful if your totes are stacked.

Some people use egg cartons for their Christmas balls. Some place them in a box with layers of paper between. It all depends on how many you have and what they are made with. I use a large plastic storage container for mine and almost everything goes in there, even some wreaths. Wreaths are placed in individual bags and written on the bag as to where they were in the home. This helps to make things go much quicker next year.

Storing "like with like" and labeling makes Holiday prep and aftermath much faster and safer.

Separating Christmas artificial florals, "picks", glass ornaments, resins, ceramics, plastics, large pine cones, garlands, lights, bows, stuffed ornaments, etc., all have their own boxes, clearly labeled, with date last used (for those that change out their decor, from year to year). Using boxes with sturdy dividers helps for fragile items.
