You could remove the bakers rack and replace it stackable bins.

2) shoe organizers on the back of a door

3) use a net laundry bag ,hang on wall

4) use metal planters on wall to place items

5) use back of the door organizer to put items in

6) under the bed storage in small bins

7) buckets from dollar tree tied together put sideways will Create storage

Hi Dianne, if you have space beneath your bed, you might try getting a few cardboard boxes and cut them so they are shallow enough to slide under your bed. You and your granddaughter could decorate these by gluing gift wrap paper or contact paper to the outside of them and cut our an area to use as a "pull-out" handle. Maybe also personalize them with her name. That way the toys will be out of your way until her next visit. At that age, some children love to "sort" things so you could also include some dividing cardboard pieces for that. This won't take care of the very large toys, but should help with smaller ones. She will probably like that she has a specific place she knows the toys will be when she visits. It's amazing how much can be stored beneath a bed! :)

When my children were toddler age, I obtained a small chest similar to what once was considered a cedar chest. I put contact paper on the inside in a kid friendly design. It also wiped off easily. I put a smooth stain finish on the outside. I used a clear poly, but you could paint it as well. I added a long pillow on top and used it in the living room, bedroom and even the dining room as extra seating. All the toys were put away when needed. It was "their" chest and they knew it. We made it a game to pick up their toys, too. One other thing I did was to put hinges on the top that did not close until you actually closed it, to avoid smashed fingers. When they grew up I redid the interior and used it in my room. It now resides in my grandson's room with his toys.

For a child this age I would probably get a plastic container that can slide under the bed. It would be fun for her to "discover" her toys each visit and keep them out of sight the rest of the time.
