You've all seen them: old upright pianos that sometimes get neglected or even end up at the dump ground. My husband and I have a piano tuning, repair and rebuilding business. Occasionally someone calls and asks us if we'll take their old, unwanted piano. ..sometimes we do. ;-) But usually we just salvage parts we can reuse.
This project is made from the part called the music desk.
This is the final project but I'll show you how it started out. As I mentioned, this is the part called the music desk. We've recycled it into a mug holder using spoons as the holders. Now it just has to be mounted to the wall.
While this is not the actual piano , this photo indicates the part that was used. Now to let you know the process.
The middle section of the music desk was used for another project (a hanger for towels, etc. in one of our guest rooms.) It looks similar to this only longer. This mug/cup holder measures 18" high x 21" long.

The two end pieces were glued together, painted with DIY chalk paint in a pale French blue.

After painting I waxed it a little then distressed it to enhance the pretty details.

We attached the spoons evenly spaced with wood screws on the board.
These particular spoons were bent in a "U" shape so that the mugs would lie flat against the board.
Other possible uses-----

A holder for dish towels in the kitchen

Bath or hand towels in the bathroom

Necklaces or belts in your bedroom or closet

Holding keys by your door
And here it is again! The cost for materials was almost free...but there was quite a lot of labor involved ;-)

Thanks for such kind words Bernice. Would you believe I've tried selling it locally and no one is interested in buying it? Gasp! LOL! Well I guess I might be trying to sell to a market who 'doesn't get it'....yet ;-) LOL! Glad you like it. I'm hoping I can sell it at a garage sale soon.

I just sold it to a lovely young lady who's "not from around here" as they say in our area. LOL! She totally appreciated it as is very excited to put it in her new apartment.
