Get Organized With Thrifty DIY Drop Cloth Fabric Covered Storage Boxes

DIY Fun Ideas

My DIY and craft supplies were all over the place. A few boxes in the family room, a bunch of stuff on a shelf in the dining room, and a few more boxes in a bedroom. (And none of it is organized.) So when I need something, I end up looking in at least three different places. Then there are those occasions when I casually place my tape measure in some random spot and then spend two hours looking for it. Ugh.
I finally decided to give myself a kick in the rear and get all my supplies organized in one place.
I always liked those fabric covered boxes, but it's hard to find really large sized ones and when I did find them, they cost $29.99 EACH! No way. So I decided to make my own and since I had all the materials on hand, it cost me zero dollars.
The place I picked for my new storage is this sad little corner in the family room where some of my supply boxes already lived.
I started with a heap of cardboard boxes I'd been gathering.
And using a drop cloth that I had left over from a previous project, my song lyric wall art (also on my blog), I turned that pile of junk boxes into these awesome storage boxes.

I noticed some of the boxes pictured before the fabric had cut outs like not all four sides were there...how did you do the fabric if not all sides there...I would leave the different heights alone...good for me to see the difference...looks better to me...and since cloth...I would just paint some stencil stuff on the outside for color or tye dye too...

Hi Susan, That was my collection of boxes, but I only used the ones that had four complete sides. :-)
