Easily repurpose an old sweater into a Wine Sleeve or Wine Gift Bag

As I was cleaning my craft room the other day, I came across a pile of old (and ugly) sweaters that I bought a few years back with the intention of upcycling or repurposing them. For some reason, those craft projects got put on the back burner.

So, with Fall and Winter right around the corner, I figure this is the perfect time to tackle those sweater craft projects. The first one is going to be this DIY Wine Bottle Sweater Bag.

Wine is such a great and easy gift but those wine gift bags are boring, right? It’s much more fun to make your own wine gift bag and what’s more fun than an old sweater?

Supplies needed:
– Old Sweaters or Jackets
– Fabric Scissors
– Pins
– Sewing Needle
– Thread
– Sewing Machine (optional)
– Ribbon or Cording
Look for sweaters with interesting detail like this embroidery and beaded snowflake. Perfect for a Christmas Gift Bag.
First, you measure your wine sleeve/gift bag and place a pin. This is where you will sew your first seam.
Next, you will sew "Grocery Bag" corners. This will make your wine bottle gift bag stand up better.
The bottom of your wine sleeve will look something like this.
Add a pretty bow or some sparkly ribbon and your wine bag is finished. Kitty likes bling, too.
Super simple and it really only took me 30 minutes from start to finish to make this wine bottle sweater.

These DIY Wine Sleeve are also the perfect last minute hostess gift or Christmas gift idea.
