I can’t remember the last time I threw out a tissue box. Mostly I cut them into tags to use on baskets identifying the contents. But for this challenge I had to be more creative for sure.
So, as always, I gathered everything I thought I would need for this project
The tissue box was prepped by cutting into the corners and trimming away any excess and gluing the ends down with hot glue which will insure a sturdy edge.
Next, starting at the center of the bottom of the box, I began hot gluing cord/twine in a spiral pattern that I had on hand.
OK so this part of the project took a lot longer and used a lot more glue sticks than I ever imagined; but the results look like something I would pick up in a high-end home décor store. So totally worth it!
Then the box needed a liner, to hide the unsightly inside, and this was made by draping fabric (from my fabric “stash”) over the outside of the box. Pinning the corners and stitching the pinned corners (I used my sewing machine, but you could easily hand stitch, or even hot glue this seam) to make a rectangle shape.
Place the rectangle wrong side into the box.
Fold over the edges of the box add a few rolled hand towels and there you have it a great towel holder for your guest bathroom.
