Believe it or not, hubby picked this up at Michaels one day, after I dragged him in there. It has been setting for several months, all plain and boring. He had mentioned I could use my “pickle” dyes, then I got this cool dye and inspiration struck!!
I gathered my supplies, and got ready to go. I knew bright blue wouldn’t go with my decor..so I grabbed my yellow pickle.
I mixed some yellow into the blue to tone it down and give it a different hue that would better suit my decor. I keep some small jars around to use for mixing.
Once I got the color to my liking, I brushed it on. I used a chip brush, but you could use a sponge brush.
A small brush for all those small spaces! I have a set of artist brushes I keep for times like this.
After waiting a few minutes, I wiped off the excess with a paper towel, but a clean rag would work.
I wasn’t thrilled with it yet...it happens. So, I poured some of the bright blue onto a paper plate, grabbed a foam brush and paper towel. I went over each side with that, and then wiped it down with a paper towel before it dried. Again a clean rag would work just as well...great way to use up old tee shirts!
Ahhh yes, much better!
Poly for protection, and done. A quick finish anyone can do.

I’m inspired! I love blue, but I want to use two different shades. I don’t have any “pickling” but I see how to blend. Thank you! ☺️

I need to get to Michael's . I actually got a wine colored stain/dye that would look great on this as well . Thanks for the inspiration .
