Any Tips for Setting up outdoor Lighting for a Patio?

LED lights are the simplest answer to outdoor lighting (if you don't have a plug; otherwise white mini exterior Christmas lights do not use a lot of power and give a very nice ambiance.

A lot will depend upon how much light you want and for what purpose. Ambient light can be achieved with small solar lights (i get mine at the dollar store) strategically placed around the patio and in the garden(s). I also have the strip lighting that plugs in around one deck... it is much brighter and goes on when guests are around. My fairy lights are solar and are entwined in my trellises , again relatively low light. This is the perfect time of year (Christmas lights are coming out for sale) to purchase coloured lights or small floodlights or any outdoor lights that will work year round.

We're not fans of solar lights. They shine with a blue hue. Regular Christmas tree lights don't last. We put tube lights around the inside perimeter of our gazebo roof two Summers ago. We tried reg tree lights in the Gazebo but they didn't even last the whole summer. The tube lights are still shining beautifully and we've never unplugged them! Tube lights!! 👍🏻

You can replace any existing bulbs with LED bulbs that change color via remote control. They can be change to a constant color to match your mood or strobe to different colors for party time,

I like the softer look of rope lights. They can be hidden but still light the area. If positioned correctly they can be replaced easily when they break. I believe I have seen some come with remotes for different colors.

I love using the soft white rope lights, it casts just enough light to see and not too much to blind and if you use a dusk to dawn timer...even better!!
