How can cover a dash board with new fabric without taking dash out?

I watched the demonstration that put new fabric on her couch using hot glue.Would this be advisable?

Hot glue on a couch means its kept indoors where the sun and extreme temperatures wont affect it.. A car especially the dash board is subject to many temperature changes and the regular hot glue wont be able to stand up (in the hot sun you will have a gooey mess eventually and possably a messed up dashboard. Best to try other glues made for such work
Check at an auto parts store, they would be able to tell you what will stand up to the sun and heat or cold without letting go. If you put fabric on the dashboard it will probably fade in the sun. They may be able to tell you something that would last on your dashboard.
