How do I hang something on Hardi Board on the outside of my home?
I want to hang a Pallet US Flag on the exterior wall of my home. How would I hang it on HardiBoard or should I rethink mounting it ?

I would rethink about mounting it somewhere else as the excessive wind action may do damage to your siding and your home since you will have to find a stud or something solid underneath the siding to screw into.
Depends on how big/heavy it is. Because HardIe Board is made of cement and fibers it is brittle and will not carry any weight. This means that the sheathing behind it must carry the load. Most sheathing on houses is OSB (oriented strand board) and it will carry a fair amount of weight depending on how thick it is. The problem is that some building codes allow wall sheathing as thin as 5/16” because it doesn’t bear any weight. I guess the moral of the story is user beware.
Just screw in two large hooks and hang it up that will hold it Home Depot sells them they just screw in
