You may have seen these chairs in the question forum first deciding if I wanted to swap them for my existing high back red rattan chairs, decision was YES.

Next question was what to do with them, stain or paint and what color?

I decided to paint because the old finish was splotchy and sanding would have been a forever job.

Millions of colors and I had narrowed it down to three contenders all VERY darkest tones of a brown, a green and a teal.

Had family here for my birthday so I asked for a color consult from my daughter-in-law and 8 year-old granddaughter from several samples both chose the very dark teal, secretly was my choice as well.

Seems like a real stretch from curbside to inside relocation, but everything is a vision, a process of imagining the transformation.

They come inside to see how they fit and it's a GO

After a good cleaning with bleach & soapy water they were left to dry. There was some damage on the top corners of the chair backs that need some TLC before proceeding.

Hum what's the easiest way to fix these damaged corners?

I always say caulk and paint works wonders

High tech tools assembled and I am ready to get started, UGH

I did not use spray paint because of the limited color options and I have had good results with foam and brushes in the past. Actually ended up using a wider chip brush exclusively

I moved into the garage and was ready to get started.

I thinned my paint having decided that I would first apply a wash type coat making it much easier to get into all the nooks and crevices. I began on the underneath so that if there were runs they were underneath rather than on the side you see. This took about 30 minutes per chair.

I left them to dry over night.

Note the paint is NOT as shiny (really a matte satin) as the photos show, my camera flash is unforgiving.

Second coat completed, again about 30 minutes each chair. Several follow up looks for any thin/missed areas and they were left to dry again overnight in the garage.

Finished, at last they are ready to come inside.

The total time was about 3 hours over a few days after work.

And there they sit, home at last with the cushions I have on hand.

I bought the sample size which was more than enough and stapled the card under the chairs. Smart me.

    It's a BEHR Black Evergreen MQ5 44?

    Thought I had replied???

It was a Behr marque Black Evergreen. One small sample size was MORE than enough.

    Have fun
