The cover that came on these cushions could not be removed for cleaning so I am recovering them. There are eight chairs and one lounge.
First I measured the amount of fabric needed per cushion by laying the cushion on the fabric with right sides showing.
since my fabric had prints that I could use as cutting lines, I cut it as single layers so the print would be sure to line up. After cutting the first one I used it as the pattern to cut the remaining 7.
Instead of measuring each one I marked the table.
All ready for assembling
Next I cut 3 inch strips for the binding. Cutting my own binding was much cheaper then buying premade binding. Since I was not going to turn corners, I did not cut it on the bias. The binding was going to be on straight edges only.
Next I pinned sewed in my zipper. Note that one side is on the fold.
I did not put the zipper in the conventional way but simply folded the edge along the zipper track.
I then stitched the ends
Next I laid the binding strips on the long edge of the cushion and folded 5/8 inch under and stitched in on.
Then I turned the binding to the right side and stitched it.
I finished of the bottom of the cushion in the same manner. The top of the cushion in not bould because of the zipper.
Almost completed.I then cut 2 1/2 inch strips to used for ties and stitched them and placed then where I needed them for my chairs.
Next I cut 2 1/2 inch strips. Stitched them and placed them where I wanted them for my chairs
Next I took yarn and a darning needle and made long (3") running stitches where the seat and back bent to hold the fabric from moving.
Finished project! Now for the other 7 and the lounge! I think the price per chair comes out around $12 each. The first one tool me about 2 hours but I now can do the other 7 faster

I did something similar years ago with rocking chair cushions. I bought a chair with plain gray cushions, covered them in toddler animal prints, and put it in our nursery to rock the babies to sleep. When they grew up I removed the covers, and got my gray cushions back : )
