Garage Floor Epoxy Paint

We refreshed our beat up garage floor with a new coat of 2-part epoxy paint in grey. Here's how it went..
Even though we added an epoxy coat 3 years ago, it never took well and we had a lot of staining.
The areas under the car were particularly nasty and hard to clean.
We bought a 2-part kit from Lowes and re-coated it adding paint chips along the way.
The new paint seemed to take much better this time and looks much better compared to the old floor.
This is how it looks the day after applying the paint. So much better.

  • Acid etching the floor is fine but you have to use a good concentration rate. What most folks don't realize is that after the acid etch not only do you have to rinse all that spent acid out of the garage, you also have to neutralize it with either ammonia water or a baking soda water mix. Most of the epoxy products sold at the big box stores are water based epoxy products. Even the 2-component products sold there are water based epoxies. Typically we grind all our garage floor installations and use 100% solids epoxy. This provides for the best possible adhesion. Also, if you already have a coating down on your floor and it's holding up well but want to put a fresh coat on, acid washing will do absolutely nothing to an already painted/coated surface. What you need to do is to sand or buff with a black buffing pad to scratch up the existing coating so the new epoxy will bond to it properly. If your redoing your garage floor because the existing coating is flaking and peeling up, the only way to prep the floor at this point is to diamond grind everything off and get down to the bare concrete. I'll be happy to answer any questions you may have. Thanks, -Jeff http://www.garageflooringatlanta.com

I need a fast/cost effective way to cover my floors(mobile home). I pulled out the pink carpet so some of my place is just plywood and the rest is ugly linoleum. Is epoxy a possible solution for me?

Why not put Laminate Flooring down it has different price range & it will look good & easy to install!
