Easy PVC Tomato Trellis

Design and build a PVC tomato trellis that fits your garden. PVC is lightweight, durable, and easy to configure for your custom application. With this type of structure your tomatoes will have a strong support for the growing season. And at the end of the season they can be stacked flat to minimize how much storage space is used.
A tomato trellis built for a 4 foot wide raised bed.
Building the trellis is fairly easy and straight forward (see full instructions in the blog post) but it important to plan out the project before making any cuts. For example, the width of the pipes should match the basic square length of the trellis netting.
Another great example of a PVC tomato trellis (source: https://flic.kr/p/6oRc2t).

I did this for the beans & peas on my deck a few years ago. Still using them. Blends in with the siding & holds together well. I used metal pipe straps on the outside of the planter boxes so the pvc just slides into them. A piece of long re-bar inside the pvc helps keep it stable when it's windy. Everything pops apart for winter storage.

@Jenni C. great idea to use some rebar for extra strength!

What a great idea. My brother-in-law went a step further and put cross beams, put in slit holes and attached a water hose...yes, with duct tape! He has a sprinkler system. The holes being slits makes the water spray (he puts pipe in a vice and spaces his holes...safer than holding it in a hand).
