Fairy Gardens!

I love Fairy Gardens- I have created lots of little ones in containers of all kinds: in tea cups and mugs, in gourds and hanging baskets, in buckets, at the base of trees, above a deck fountain, and even a huge walk through one we call the Fairy Forest which has clusters of Fairy garden homes throughout it!

Here are some examples of Fairy things I've put together ...

A simple one I made in a mug with some greenery and just a little house and white gravel. I haven't decided yet where this one will go.
And a little mini village in a gourd hung in a tree. I used a bit of dried moss in the end to look like smoke and hung a mini birdhouse on it. The house, mushrooms, and animals are glued in place. It hangs in the Fairy Forest.
Here I had a cute basket that I loaded up to be a farm with a pond so lots of little animals, fencing, a boat amongst blue pebbles with geese. I really like the green plant to give the look of trees in the back and a pretty butterfly on wire stuck in there.
I keep this one along the sidewalk under a big old tree and decorate it in different ways according to the seasons. In the summer it seems the fairies that live here enjoy riding their bike which leans against the tree near the smaller door. The butterlies on wire just get stuck behind the bark on the tree. My favorite thing here is the mailbox which seems to fill up with little notes and coins.
And when the neighborhood kids leave gifts and notes for the fairies it makes all the work so worth it!
Here is a Fairy Chinatown area inside my Fairy Forest. It has a Buddha, hanging lanterns that light up at night and flowers all nestled in a cluster on some sand. Magical things like dragons and unicorns often show up here.
This is a simple grouping of Fairy homes circling a tree within the Fairy Forest. For height I used some landscaping bricks and put flowers in the center. The houses are actually wooden kitchen canisters that look like houses. Perfect for Fairies! The solar lantern hangs above the village on a trimmed branch.
A small Fairy sits in this wooden bucket having tea with some lovely greenery behind her. The solar powered Cabbage home sits on the small outdoor table also and adds some color to the scene. It's so easy to add fun little things to this grouping.
Here is a small rustic Fairy village within the Fairy Forest. Using downed tree branches and rounds gave it the rustic theme. The houses are wood and there are simple things here like the hanging lantern that adds to that rustic feel Some homes are nestled higher in the trees or on a mound of dirt. For added color we added the spinning flower wheel and some artificial flowers this Spring.
Much of what you need can be found outdoors such as dirt, rocks, pebbles, moss, and tiny plants. I've even seen moss growing in the cracks in big cities- scoop it up and go for it! But certainly the local nurseries have some sweet tiny fairy sized plants that can look like tiny trees and bushes and flower gardens.

What you might want to purchase is a small Fairy and perhaps some accessories like a swing or bench and small critters such as lady bugs, bunnies, or hedgehogs. But if you have a dollhouse there are plenty of things that you can borrow from it!

This is another area of our Fairy Forest and shows how fun it can be lit up! It's nestled against some pine trees which adds to the Fairy garden feel. You can buy small fairy lights on wires but other lights work as well. I really like using solar powered lights for outdoors for scenes like this. I'm sure the Fairies enjoy it as much as I do!

A Fairy garden can be as small or large as you want and can be as expensive or inexpensive as you want.

Absolutely believe in fairies. You've done a wonderful job in providing your fairies with such lovely homes. Don't forget, that they might like to have a swimming pool in summer; after all, even fairies get hot.
