I'm always thrilled to find such natural flowing beauty anywhere. I'm so glad I bumped into your site after having cruised through a few before you! 🍀 What a sight to see on this especially dreary day in the Midwest. Just 20 miles east of St Louis, Mo, on the Illinois side of the Mississippi River and the Gateway Arch, I'm in O Fallon, IL,......and you can see it's March 2nd. The sleet and snow are hitting the house so hard that my Golden Retriever is a LOT uneasy again this morning. 😱 We've had a lot of this weather this year, along with much of the country. (you can see I have cabin fever by my blabbing)!! Your pics make me feel like I'm walking right beside you for my own personal tour. And much needed that is!! After being a homeowner for almost 25 years I lost my home last year as have so many other Americans. I've found myself depressed and feeling sad and hopeless at times, after losing two of my best friends the year prior, (2 beautiful Golden Retrievers), that helped put so much love into that home. And they loved being out with me each year, planning and maybe splitting or moving certain plants, bushes, etc., that I miss so badly, since so many of those first seedlings or snips and cuttings were started from the original or piece of the original plant or perennial that have been shared for decades through my small family and group of friends. I think, (I know), that's the hardest part. Putting your own blood, sweat and of course some tears at times, seeing the first blooms sprout up and bushes pop with color on my favorite Aunt Carrie's fuschia colored Azalea bushes that took to the most useful spot in my landscaping each year for nearly 20, (Aunt Carrie passed away at 99 beautiful years of age last spring herself), and she loved walking through and picking and pokin", we called it, to see and remember where each plant starting she had given me all through my 52 years of sharing them as well. Yes, that's what I miss the most, and the many photos I do have with my dogs that adored lounging and playing outside with me while I got my "therapy" working in my own large yard. All of this is what came to mind when first glancing at your pics as they came up. It was a trip down my own memory lane with my favorite Aunt and all my dogs, seeing that at least I did and still do love helping make things beautiful. For myself, neighbors, family and friends to see and admire. And now, i'm still looking forward to another spring, but with a completely blank slate of a yard I share with my neighbors that I now share in a town home for two families. Mine with my 4 legged best girlfriend, Sophia, and a couple that just moved into the other side. New beginnings started last year after a divorce of a long time marriage, I don't own this but I can help to beautify it while i'm here and will then leave it for hopefully someone else thag may appreciate it when I've moved on from this temporary spot in my life. We were lucky and so happy to find a landlord through old friends that gladly took on a large dog, that's costly these days for renters most eveywhere. I knew I wasn't going anywhere without my buddy who was also starting over with me. The grief over her two older companions and then her "dad" moving out and on another way. She's come a long way from the shy vs boisterous pup she was when she bossed the older two. She's learned to be a little more humble, as have I. And we've done and learned a lot of new things since moving into just "our" place. I know you most likely are much too busy for my autobiography, but it is after all the way that so much of our worlds' beauty originated. New neighbors, family and friends, sharing pieces of their lives through gardening and I think that's what connected most of us in a very special way. Initially seeing your Gerbera daisy reminded me of just how much joy my own had brought me through the years. They are one of my most favorite "happy" flowers. And they may be the first thing that Sophie and I take a trip together to a few of our favorite local nurseries to talk and chat with the owners and long time employees I've known for years now and make some fresh new choices as well as a definite few of the ones i have so many fond memories of. And then I'll share with my new neighbors, (if they wish), and friends both new and old. Yes, thank you for reminding me why I've missed what I started and nurtured for years, and I hope at lesst some will continue to flourish, but there are always new beginnings and new life breathed into us each spring. This will be my new spring starting new traditions. Thank you again for reminding me of the always new beginnings in what's been a more than just sad period of time in my life. It's inspired me for sure. And somehow, now i'm watching the snow fall on top of the sheet of ice before it, but i'm looking at it with a new look at hope since opening up my computer after breakfast for awhile. What a pleasant surprise to see this first and start a new month with new hope. Wishing you and all your followers a wonderful day or evening now, wherever we all may be. Gardening has always been good therapy for me. And this just gave it a whole new very important wake up call that I needed, especially while seeing another white empty slate of which I can make some simple plans for the spring. 🌺🌻🌾🌹🍀
