How to Create a Unique Mosaic Cobble
I love the smooth ancient sea cobbles on the beaches around Uk and I often come back from my holidays with extra stones! I had some beautiful left over vintage china florals from a previous project so it seemed right to combine the two for a creative project.
I cut up some vintage crockery squares to make little tiny china tiles . Trying to make them similar sizes to make it even. Lots needed to make a little border. I use wheeled tile nippers to make the tiny pieces and have the green patterned edge.
I stick down the pieces of crockery with PVA glue and this creates a pretty floral border that also has texture.
I continue with border then begin the floral pieces of vintage crockery for the centre. Choosing patterns and colours to compliment each other is the fun part.
When happy with the whole piece and left to dry so it’s very solid and secure it’s time to grout it. I use ready mixed black grout and a plastic card to work it into all the crevices.
It’s a messy job and after covering all tiles it’s time to take away excess grout with a wet wipe or damp cloth.
When it’s all cleaned up it’s ready to show off! Placing nearly pond or dotted around garden or home can be a nice focus or talking point. Think it’s going to get addictive making these!
