How to Frame a Vertical Garden

Vertical gardens fascinate me. It doesn't matter where you live or how much space you have these gardens are a living canvas that show case the best that nature has to offer.

With so many inspiring ideas on the web we made our own using a plastic frame we found at the local hospice.

We measured the inside of the frame (where the picture would go) and cut the wire mesh and weed mat to fit. Then we attached the wire mesh and weed mat to the back of the frame using a staple gun. The wire mesh and weed mat hold the soil in place and provide support for the plants.

To make the box frame, we used some pallet off cuts and L-shaped brackets to attach the box frame to the plastic frame.

We filled the box frame with mulch, compost and soil and closed off the back with a layer of plastic and a few more pallets cut to size.

We flipped the frame over and added the plants by cutting a a small hole in the wire mesh and weed cloth and carefully tucking the plants into the pockets.

I abSooooLutely love how our vertical garden turned out.
