Hey there Hometalkers it's almost Autumn!! I have been making things with leaves, pumpkins and all those beautiful fall colors! So many holidays this time of the year and I love to add crafts/diy's to the decorations every year! This is one of my recent projectsicon !

I made over 30 leaves I didn't use all of them for this project though.
I drew some different leaf shapes on a piece of wood sheeting, then used a jigsaw to cut a few out, I then used those shapes to trace some more!
Some of the first leaves cut out!
This is a close up of the leaves I drew. I only had so much of the sheeting and wanted to make as many leaves as I could so it was close cutting!
If you have experience cutting shapes out with a jigsaw this shouldn't be too much trouble but if you don't PLEASE BE CAREFUL!! If you have a scroll saw that is awesome for this type of cutting. This part of the project only took about an hour to complete. You can always buy some wood leaves then do the rest of the projecticon !
I did have a video of me cutting these out but the cam tilted down while I was cutting (didn't even notice) and all you can see is the wood bouncing around and me talking through what I'm doing at that momenticon ! That is not going to help if you can't see what I doingicon ! Oh well maybe next time I will post a video.
I then sanded down all the leaves and painted/stained both sides of the leaves with some Unicorn SPiT! This part took about 2 hours.
After all leaves were dry I then drilled a very small hole in each close to the stem for the fishing line to go through! Sealed all the wood pieces with a clear gloss spray paint!

I used an embroidery hoop, some metal fencing and twine for this part! I bent the metal around the hoop. The twine is the hanger! Time on this was about a half hour because of the bending of the metal around the hoop.
I also used wood and stone beads. I really didn't like the color of the stone beads so I painted them a walnut (dark brown) along with the hoop part!
I strung the leaves and beads then tied the line around the metal top and hot glued the knot!icon Almost finished!! This part took a bit of time to do, several hoursicon but it was worth it!
I needed to add something in the middle to knock around the leavesicon I know what will work, a stick! I drilled a small hole in both ends of the stick to hang, painted/stained with SPiT and added more beads!
All finished!!icon
Just love this new addition to my fall decorations and it sounds great too!!icon This project took almost a day to make but I think it was worth the time!!icon
I only made 3 of this shape for a little something different! I do love different, unusual things!
I made these over 20 years agoicon ! I put them out every year on my bookcases!
Added a little bit of ribbon, a tiny pine cone and now these are finished! I'll hang these on a wall inside the houseicon !
Well onto the next project!
Any questions or comments are always welcomed!! Thanks for taking the time to look at my new Wooden Autumn Leaves Wind Chime!

Love this idea. Wish I still had my scroll saw, but had to get rid of it when I moved into a townhouse. Will definitely do this project when I finish my rag cutains I'm making for my two great grandaughters rooms. Were you able to buy the small wire mesh or did you have it left over from another project?
