Are you addicted to solar lights? I think I may have a problem. I have them all over my yard and garden. My latest project is a makeover of an antique lamp base I found at flea market that I just couldn't walk away from, so much character and potential!
So I brought this old guy home and cleaned him up really well. Naval jelly is my go to for heavily rusted objects and it didn't let me down this either.
Next I took apart an old light fixture that was hanging in the dining room of our home when we bought it. We both hated it and replaced it with something more industrial so this thing had been collecting dust in the attic.
I took the globes off and turned it upside down to fit it onto the lamp base. I had to drill a few holes so that the screws that used to hold a globe in the lamp base would now hold my inverted and dissected chandelier, but hey, power tools to the rescue.
You can't see this one really well. For that I apologize. The weather turned right after I painted it with Rustolium in Oil Rubbed Bronze to match our patio furniture. After the paint dried, I used E6000 to glue solar lights into the old sockets.
And here's the finished product. I love my solar lamp. I hope it inspires you to create something that lights up your night as well.
