Mixed Media Flowerpot

2 Materials
1 Hour

This mixed media flowerpot project is a great one to do all year round but especially in the summertime. It can be done using so many different colors of paint and decorative papers. It is a great thing to make to keep for yourself or to give as a gift. The Americana paints and Decou-Page were both sent to me from DecoArt to use in the creation of this masterpiece. This post is sponsored by DecoArt but the ideas and opinions are my own.

To get started, you will need the following materials.

  • Large Terra Cotta Pot
  • Americana Paints in a Variety of Colors
  • Decou-Page
  • Tissue Paper and/or Decorative Papers (NOT Card Stock)
  • Washi Tape
  • Glue (Thick Tacky)
  • Buttons
  • Paintbrushes

Get your paints all ready to go on a large paper plate.

Start by painting your pot a variety of mixed up colors. It is okay if the paints overlap. Let this dry.

Add pieces of paper over your paint using Decou-Page. You will need to put a coat under and over the paper. Add pieces of washi tape too if desired.

Add a thick coat of Decou-Page over the entire surface. Add buttons with glue. You could add any embellishments of your choice. I also added a hand-stamped piece of metal.

When it is dry, add soil and plant some flowers. Ta Da!

Cheers to making things that create growth and joy!
