It looks like there is some space between where you park and the front of the house...a wooden patio right there, raised off the ground with a step or two would be a great way to add some texture and visual interest to the front as well as segue into the staircase.

@Lavende I want to do something like this on the front and possibly put a tri fold garage door back on the front even though it wont be a garage, what do you think? I need some help with color, my husband wants to do a dark grey. We have to completely renovate the kitchen but other wise it i in great shape!

The idea of a deck for a sitting area to the right of the door sounds great. Be sure and put down some concrete "stops" so the cars won't hit the deck! Since this is a home away from home, you won't be around to maintain plants (like watering) so you will need some things that are basically labor free. Put in a group of about yellow sword yucca in a nicely setup bed at the left corner where the front door is located. Later on you can add some Cordyline (maroon colored spikes) along the top of that wall. There are all kinds of non blooming plants that do not require a lot of work or upkeep. Mulch cuts back on weeding. Elephant ears are another plant that is trouble free. Put in a little more each year until you have what you want.

I would add planter boxes to all the front windows and fill accordingly (depending on your garden zone and sunlight you get) and also I would make one long planter box going down the left side on top of that concrete wall and fill those with boxwood, evergreens something low maintenance and little water requirements.

Is this to be your vacation home? Just curious -- it's darling!

@Miriam I Well... We retired to our vacation home so we bought this to stay in when we go home to visit grand kids!

I'm a fan of everything grey so can't disagree with your husband on that one! I'd suggest pulling a shade of grey with brown undertones though (on the red side of the grey spectrum), so that it complements the beautiful stonework. Out of curiosity, what is on the other side of the door/garage?

I suggest a wreath on the front door and some planters of flowers and greenery along the long portion of the house. When seasons change and the flowers die you'll still want the greenery. Beautiful place anyway! It won't need much.

It looks like such a nice solid house. I would paint the door(s) in front and the siding at the top to match the stone. I would not put a patio in the driveway (why, when you have a deck?) and I definitely would not make a mock garage door, since IMHO they should not be seen! Sometimes less done is better.

I personally would have sliding on the upper portion in sage green and next to the front door. Add decorative trim to the front top windows and add a trellis along the front above the door extending across the entire front. For the front door and something with glass and rod iron for a focal point. Place light and mail box and large footed urn at the door and along that wall and rod iron table set. Here's a few photos of things I mentioned😊📌
