Concrete Drive and Asphalt topping ..............
Depends where you live!
We have asphalt, a friend of ours has concrete. We've been here 45 years and have never had to have our torn out. Our friend live in his for about 10 years, then had his torn out so because it was so bad. Within 1 year it had started to crack. A lot of it depends on where you live. We live in an area that gets cold in the winter and that causes it to shrink while our summers cause expansion. While concrete driveways do have expansion joints built in, they clearly aren't enough in our area. My suggestion is to take a ride around your residential areas and look at driveways. Make your choice based on what you see.
I also looked up John's idea to educate myself as I had never heard of putting asphalt over concrete. It looks like it's a good idea if the concrete is in good condition. I thought I'd share with you a website where you can read about the idea. Wishing you the best.
