Help! There are cracks in my stone & brick flowerbeds!

As the years go by the cracks are widening and more appearing, I am puzzled as to what to do to stop the problem. I can fill the cracks with more mortar, but I need to stop it. Is this just something that happens? Will I eventually have to deconstruct all these beds and rebuild them? What do others do? I have noticed in my area that there are a number of people having the same problem and doing nothing about them. It is just a matter of time before my HOA will tell me to fix them.

I don't think I did a very good job making myself clear. These are those diagonal cracks in the mortar between the stones and bricks where the weight of the soil and moisture are pushing them apart. First there was just the one and now there are a number of them. I can easily repair them temporarily with that mortar in tubes, but they will continue to widen.

I certainly appreciate this video...I can see how helpful it will be. I read a story about a woman in Arkansas who, along with her teenagers, built a two-story brick house by themselves just by watching YouTube videos. What an amazing resource we have with the Internet.

    Hillela,

I think that everyone has that problem to a certain degree because EARTH is constantly settling (or moving) to a small degree.

But maybe someone out there will know a way to stop it . Good Luck.
