Growing grass on a patio?

We have a 6' x 9' fenced patio which is also covered by the patio above us. It receives partial sun from the northwest, and rain falls between the floorboards above. We would like to install a doggie door to allow our dogs to have a fenced in area to "do their business." Is it possible to grow grass on the concrete patio? Frame it, fill it with dirt and lay sod?

Yes, just as you described it. But are you sure that is enough space for your dog? And your patio will smell like doggie do most of the Time. ☺️
It can be done, and have you considered one of the newer faux grass options? You can just hose off when needed.
Yes, but if it rains it may get rather muddy if you have no drainage. Or could use Artificial turf..............Maybe (No cutting required.)
