What can we add to our garden to avoid Hard ground?
After a wet winter and warm to hot spring and summer the ground is hard like concrete, when we roto tiller the garden area is there someway we can add or something so it won't be as hard next year?

A good compost will help. I let the ground (adobe) winter with layers of newspaper, kitchen scraps then cardboard. I soak it well now and then. Anything heavy to hold it in place works. By the time I want to plant most of the pile has decomposed and soil is ready to be worked or planted as is.
