Hello there,
Hand cream with Manooka Honey in, or ofcourse GLOVES!
My suggestion is to try Hydrocortisone cream. The 1% strength is widely available in many stores and on line sold under different brand names.
It is often recommended as a non-Rx remedy for itchiness caused by leaves and other greenery that your hands and arms may come in contact with when gardening outdoors, as well as insect bites.
While it is not a home-made remedy, it is very inexpensive.
The brand in the picture below is available for $1 at Dollar Tree (in the U.S.)
Hi BJ - This salve is made from a weed!!! It's pretty easy to make too. Hope this helps. Hugs, Holly

My daughter was getting itchy hives and rashes from playing out in the grass so much. She started putting hand sanitizer on it and it started going away. I have no idea why but maybe it would work for you.

How can I prevent skin reactions?
You may not always be able to prevent them, but you can minimize the risk. I give my patients these tips:

Tea tree soap is a good start. Chamomille will soothe the skin as well.

Oatmeal is real soothing to irritated skin. Put some in an old nylon or sock. Soak, then squeeze the milky liquid onto your skin. You can also hang it under the tub faucet and fill the whole tub for a nice soak. I'm allergic to ivy which I have to pull in my garden that escaped from my neighbor's yard.
I use essential oils and Lavender is awesome for bug bites, itchy skin, etc.
Making a damp paste with baking soda and a little water may help reduce the itchiness caused from some insect bites and other topical irritants.
Worth a try as it may offer relief, at a very inexpensive cost.
