Our new garden has a yucky brown/orange fencing with little privacy. Can you recommend ideas to help with this please in quick growing shrubs etc. Some shrubs will have to cope in planters as tarmac area on one side can not be touched. Thanks so very much for taking time to think about & answer this problem! ( I an an ardent nature lover & want to attract butterflies, birds & bees). Best wishes everyone Honor.

Thank you Alice for taking the time to respond to me. That fence is great for privacy, I hadn't actually thought of making the fence higher so that is one great idea already, thank you, Honor.

I like butterfly bushes but I don't know if they'll grow in your area. I would suggest you go to your local nursery and talk to them about what you need. I'm sure they'll be able to help you and you'll be able to see what they are talking about.

I don't know a shrub that grows fast enough to give you privacy. I would suggest building an open lattice framing and then add vines or climbing flowers to cover the area. You could even buy panels.... https://www.wayfair.com/outdoor/sb1/lattice-trellises-c417298-a72384~281437.html grow some colmbine, morning glory, honeysuckle, or other fast growing climbing plant.

Thank for your thoughts & information Sharon. I have never used Columbine so am very interested in that. Is Morning Glory perennial I wonder? I will look it up as I love it. Thank you, Honor

Hello. Here is a list of the 10 best fast-growing shrubs for privacy. Be sure to check the USDA plant hardiness zone mao to ensure that the plants will grow well in your zone of the country. You can find the map by doing a search for it on Google. Good luck!
