Well you've got to clean out everything that is over grown and remove everything you don't want there first. Basically you need to clean off the pallet so you can see the potential of this space. Once the mess is clear then actually sit there and get a sketch pad and paper and think about what you want it to look like. Ask yourself if Raised beds are an option and what is it that you'd like to grow. Get inspired by that space but to do that you need to see it's potential first. If you can't do the work then maybe some teenager who needs a summer job might be interested?

Start at the top end corner and work around the edge of the plot - weeding and clearing the rubbish. Work all over the plot eventually you will then know what plants you have that are worth saving and where they are. Once that is done. draw a plan of the garden on some paper and decide what you want the garden to do for you. (BBQ - Entertaining - Veg Patch - Childrens area - Quiet reading area - flower garden etc.) Cut out shapes roughly to scale and try to fit them in on your plan.
