How can we cover an old cistern (concrete)

by Suzis
You can see it from the porch, it's under a big tree. Not alot of funds but would like some type of eye pleasing "cover". Area is about three foot by three foot. Thanks so much any ideas are welcome!

You can cover the area with river rocks and put potted cactus around them .

I'm not sure this would work, but can you enclose it in strips from pallets. Most places are looking to give away old pallets. Just sand and add a little stain, and put some potted plants on top.

Fill it with soil and plant a bog garden. Or if you cover it with a pallet as was already suggested, get enough pallets to lay out a platform large enough to sit chairs on. Sort of a stand alone patio island. Fill in the spaces between the boards with other pallet boards, level them as you lay them out and put potted plants And other decor of your choice.
