How come birds won't go into my bird house?

It's about 10'' up and facing south east. No cats are around and it is a real bird house. And has never been painted.

I hope this helps. I position my bird houses so the back of the house faces north. The opening in the house faces south. Someone told me it prevents the north winds blowing into the birdhouse. it's seem to have helped I have birds and both of my houses now. I hope this helps

Do you mean 10" from the ground height? If so, this is much too low. The birds would be very vulnerable to predators even if you think you don't have cats around.

it takes a year for them to find it and nest in it. I put one up and it took a long time for them to nest in it.. they have to get used to it being there I would sy..

Also make sure you have a perch for them to land on, they need the security to check things out, it may take awhile but they will come

They prefer to be facing open areas not too close to trees which can harbor predators. We have several bluebird houses no perches on them. They don't seem to mind and the sparrows and starlings have nowhere to sit and cause problems. Bless you for wanting to help our feathered friends!
