How do I design the garden to layer spring bulbs and perennials?

Want to avoid leaving gaps when the spring bloomers die back.

Here are some great tips to get you started https://heeman.ca/garden-guides/bulb-planting/

I planted mine about five inches in front of my hostas and the leaves are still up and green when the hostas are large enough to cover them, but they are long done blooming before that. I just make sure they are far enough away to allow for spreading of the plants, so that you don't have to take them up each year to replant because they are too close.

Thanks Nancy, I had thought I could somehow layer the plants in the same spot without them competing for survival but don't want to chance losing either. Will experiment with positioning to avoid the empty gaps.
