How do you keep grass and weeds from growing between the brick.

Try this

1 gallon white vinegar and cup Epsom salts and ¼ cup liquid dish soap Combine ingredients in spray bottle and treat weeds at the hottest time of day for best results.

You can also use Spectracide weed and grass killer. If you use the white vinegar, heat it up in the microwave it works better that way.

First and foremost, you’ll need to eliminate any grass or weeds currently growing between the bricks. One all-natural solution is to pour boiling water between the bricks. Boiling water is safe, doesn’t leave a toxic residue, and works well for all types of grass and weeds. Just remember to use extreme caution when pouring it, as you don’t want to burn yourself in the process.

Another idea is to spray a solution of vinegar, salt and dish soap between the bricks. The vinegar and soap kills the grass, whereas the soap makes it stick. You can even add some food coloring to help you remember that it’s a homemade herbicide and not just water.

Of course, you can always use a store-bought herbicide, though the two methods previously mentioned are just as effective, if not more so.

Pressure Wash

After eliminating the grass and weeds, pressure wash the brick pavers to remove any excess material. It’s recommended that you use the lowest pressure setting possible, as this should suffice in most circumstances. Pressure washing helps to create a cleaner surface while subsequently discouraging the grass and weeds from growing back.

Seal the Pavers

The final step in preventing grass and weeds from growing between your bricks is to seal the pavers. As long as the bricks are fully sealed, plants won’t be able to emerge. You can visit your local home improvement store for recommendations on sealing products. However, a standard latex-based grout should do the job.

A simple mixture of white vinegar (1 gallon), table salt (1/2 cup) and a squirt of Dawn mixed together and sprayed onto the area will kill weeds and grass and aniy other plants. The Dawn simply keeps the mixture on the weeds/grass a bit longer rather than running down into the ground. Within a a few days your weeds/grass will be dead and easily swept or raked away.

I simply pour cheap white vinegar between my pavers. Easy-peasy and cheap.

I spray it with vinegar. Works like a charm.

2 cups white vinegar

¼ cup salt

Squirt of dawn

Mix in a spray bottle.

1 gallon of vinegar, 1 cup of salt and 1 Tablespoon of Dawn.

After mixing I pour into a spray bottle and apply in the morning on a sunny day. That helps the vinegar and salt dry out the weeds.

For paver/stone/gravel patios

I use one cup of vinegar, one cup of salt to two gallons water in a garden sprayer. Saturate the weeds till dripping. Do not use on lawn or in garden. Will kill everything. Boiling water on weeds in lawn and garden.

Many hardscape professionals advise against using acetic acid (vinegar) and salts on pavers, as they can be danaged, over time. If pavers have polymeric sand correctly installed, weeds should not grow through for some years. If you need to treat them, use a weed killer, then apply Preen in between the pavers, or re-install polymeric sand, compact vibrate, and seal the pavers.

Pull what you can and sprinkle some salt in there. Be sure to keep the salt away from anything you want to live, it’s an equal opportunity killer.

Hi, you can add sand to fill the cracks after you clean out the existing weeds and grass. Use a weed killer, or make your own to kill the existing weeds and make room for the sand

Recipe:

If finding a stronger acetic acid vinegar is proving difficult, combine 1 litre of organic white wine vinegar, ¼ cup of salt and ½ teaspoon of natural liquid dish soap into a spray bottle. Salt and vinegar are great natural weedkillers. The liquid soap acts as a ‘surfactant’ which helps the mixture stick to the leaves of the weeds for longer so it’s better able to do its job.

How to apply:

Add everything to a spray bottle, and spray liberally onto weeds. For best results, spray over your weeds during the sunniest time of the day.

What to watch out for:

Test a small area of grass before using on your lawn, in case this mix also kills grass. If it does, try watering it down with plain water
