Suggestions might depend on your planting zone and your preference for flowering versus non-flowering species and ground covers.

For your local recommendations I would highly suggest contacting your cooperative extension. These offices are manned by volunteer master gardeners on site there waiting to answer the communities questions that know your local situation quite well. Our master gardening office has two plant sales annually that supply ine with localy grown plants and shrubs.

Master gardeners are required to volunteer back designated hours ( plus continuing education) each year to maintain MG certification -this community outreach and education is their goal.

There's also email ( submit a photo) Q&A resources that have helped my concerns and questions many times. Consider googling up your local extensions office.

Hi. Invest in clearing out the shrubs. Trim your trees up to have a beautiful canopy and use mulch under them. Sometimes plantings look great when they're small, but full size, not so much. Happy gardening!

Use a flowering ground cover plant next to walkway. Keep bushes away so you don't have to trim.

  • If you'd like to have a few shrubs, pick dwarf varieties to keep their size in check.
