How to camouflage a slope in our front yard?

We have an unattractive slope at the edge of our front yard; it's about 8 feet deep, 30 feet wide. The slope is an approximate 125 degree angle. I have tried cutting the weeds, killing the weeds, planting ground covers, planting native grasses and other plants. I am about to resort to killing the weeds, finding out how to properly install artificial turf, and installing it. I am not feeling comfortable about this, but I'm out of ideas. Does anyone have any other solutions?

Could you just plant grass there like zoysia? Or a weed cover under mulch? Or... if it is in full sun you could make it into a gardening area? I'd love to see a photo of the space, it is hard to visualize it!

Can you have topsoil added to the area? Then you could decrease the slope and plant grass. Add trees or bushes or flowers as well.
I would rip out as many of the weeds as possible and then cover it with landscape plastic. From there, you can plant shrubs/perennial plants through cuts in the plastic. Mulch or stone - whichever you prefer, can be added for decorative purposes and to hold down the plastic.
