I have an area in my front yard that is shady.

We have 2 large trees in our front yard with an area in between that I’ve wanted to do something with but nothing seems to work. It’s an eye sore to say the least and has turned into a weed patch basically. Any ideas or help would be greatly appreciated!!!
As you can see from the picture I’m having the same problem under the bay window. Being a disabled senior it’s ruff at times but I try, lol

  • Maybe lay down weed block material and fill in with varying sizes of river rocks? You might have to ask from some help but you do it once and you won't have to do much for a while. You leave/put in some hostas and inpatiens for color.

That was one idea I had in mind and just putting some potted plants staggered around. I would love to put a small bench or seating area out there for a place for some of the people who walk by to rest if they need to.

Liriope is lovely too and comes in solid and verigated.

I’m not sure what Liripoe is lol. I have Hosta’s going crazy around both trees that I may move over under the bay window but not sure yet.

Clean out any plants you do not want. Add some fresh top soil and maybe a bag or two of cow or sheep manure. Rake even, cover with either garden fabric or newspapers. Plant your new flowering shrubs for shady areas and then mulch to a debt of about three inches.

  • you can also place stepping stones to make a walkway to your bench. I recommend using shade loving plants in pots to set on the rocks. Elephant ears love shade and usually grow quickly.
