I need helpful ideas for the most boring landscaping on the planet. :(
We did plant three spirea bushes in front of the holly bushs to the right of the front door and then there are some other plants in there like lilyturf (SO not a fan!), salvia, micrantha and phlox. It's ok in the spring (see pic with child) but for the most part you can see that it's B-O-R-I-N-G!
What should I do?? Maybe I need to paint the porch? Maybe I need a new sidewalk? Maybe a portico? I'm open but all these things would just be a distraction for the crappy landscaping... HELP!

I have 2 Camillas in front of my house. They are about 20 years old, 5 feet tall and 8 feet wide. They are evergreen and bloom in the winter. They are slow growers but so beautiful and they bloom in the winter when not much else does.
I would probably use a hose to make large curvy Borders for plants and flowers, but why not ask a Landscape designer to take a look and offer some suggestions or commission them to draw up a scheme for you. They could probably give you a planting layout too or even instruct Landscape Gardeners to do the job!
Hi Amy: What you could do is to remove some of the bushes so that you have openings between them. Also, trim them a bit shorter, just under the window sills. And, maybe a flower garden on the other side of the sidewalk would be nice. Here's a site for that: 50 Front Yard Landscaping Ideas to Boost Curb Appeal (homebnc.com) As for the little boy, I'd pick him up and give him all the hugs and kisses he can stand :)
