Think of making a raised wooden platform that can be picked up and moved...It can even be in four sections butted up together to make one large seating area. Fire pit can be placed off the platform for ambience & safety. A note from another DIY person was this: Be sure the fire pit is not on the leach field otherwise the leach field pipes underneath could be damaged.
How about using those large flat manufactured cement patio blocks? I bought a bunch of them at a home center, and made a nice flat surface in my yard. You could butt them tight up to each other, or leave little space for the grass to grow through between blocks. They come in various colors and sizes, and they're easily picked up and stacked if you need to do work on your septic system.
One area of danger IS THE SEPTIC TANK itself & it's fumes...sorry, no fire pit there...place your fire pit as far from the septic tank as possible. Landscaping brick could be placed on top of the tank area; but the idea of a raised wooden deck-type structure in sections I think is your answer.
