Hi there, they make a "mulch" out of recycled tires that looks nice and won't bio degrade, that might be a good solution.
Landscape fabric and a pea type gravel would be the cheapest. A better idea would be to install concrete pavers. Since it is spring, just about every home improvement center has them on sale.
the rubber mulch is ground up tires,,,great for under playground equipment...I’m not so sure I want it near my veggies...put a border around your parking space To contain it. My city has issues....no parking a car on the grass? I put down wood chips.....to park on.
Sorry cat bumped I pad...the wood chips absorb any leaking fluids from the cars.
Have a load of stone delivered and spread over area
If you put some small stone over top the area will not get muddy and will remain reasonably dry to the drainage.
We had no driveway when we bought this house so husband dug one. We then had gravel laid, but I don't think on landscape fabric. That did not last. We had this stone paver driveway installed and I have never regretted it. In a neighborhood of tarvia driveways, ours stands out. It was expensive but in the overall scheme of things not more than a good sofa or kitchen counter or small remodeling job.
the city administrator wants to have no vehicles parked on the grass...they must be junkers. no the dudes across the street are partying again. i work mostly nights sleep during the day. she sent out a cop who always woke me up. each cop quoted me a different length for the grass to be mowed down at. told them i read the city codes no grass policy to be had. told the next cop that i read the codes no policy on grass and this is harassment. do you want to be sued? funny no one got back to me on that. no more cops banging on my door after that.
i have no idea.....new girl in town to harass? i looked up the city codes...grass ht was never mentioned. the string of cops sent to my door by the city administrator all gave me different answers as to what was to high. i told the last cop at my door the ht was not specified in the city code an i was being harassed by a public official for no reason. told him to try looking it up. of course it wasn't in the code. he couldn't find it either. i work mostly night shifts- sleep late mornings and afternoons.
DO NOT USE PEA STONE it will roll all over the place until it is gone. Cheapest way is probably a leveling base of 2ns sand, then a fabric the allows water to flow through, then CRUSHED stone. If you do not put down fabric the stone will eventually be pushed into the earth until it is all gone.
