Some sort of hearty ground cover. Maybe Vince minor. It has nice purple flowers and shiny evergreen leaves

Myrtle is a good ground cover that flowers early and will spread without getting out of control. There are several varieties of hostas also.

Is it your backyard, side yard or front yard? Where really determines what to do. If it's a front or side, I would tier it with garden blocks or railroad ties. You could have some tiers of grass and one or two with a garden. You could do rock garden with plants in their pots in between the rocks. If it's a backyard, I would also tier it but with different functions. A place to sit, a play area for the kids, a play area for adults (firepit, cornhole, horse shoes, basketball, etc), making the last row at the border a garden. I suggest you stay away from ground cover, it can become very invasive.

It's in the backyard on the right side. It's starts at the fence , and runs along the right side about 12ft. The yard is big, so I dont really use the area. It abuts two of my neighbors yards. I was going to put a spilling whiskey barrel, with flowers. I don't think

we would benefit from this as from our deck it would probably look like a minatue garden. The railroad ties may do the trick, using some kind of small bushes and as I come down use grasses or flowers. What do you think? TIA

We have a big sloped patch in our yard and it makes a great spot for a rock garden. Phlox looks pretty among the rocks. We also have hostas, liriope, day lilies, and vinca.
