If there is enough space pot up some colorful containers based on you lighting and location.Put a colorful mat in front of the door.
Color makes entrance ways more inviting .Good Luck
I would have the Top half Battened out and Boarded. The Painted or Stained. Add - Shutters, Window box and or a wall Trellis
My vote is to get rid of the shrubs and replace with something bright, happy and cheap. See what will work at the nursery - especially if it is really hot.
If it were me, I'd trim that big bush up from the bottom, umbrella-style and re-sod the bare ground underneath.
Add a nice big planter box under the window filled with brightly colored flowers....the larger, the better. Add a couple of trailing ivies to fill up the rest of that brickwork. Some large-ish house numbers in an attractive font would be nice, too.
Dig up that little strip of grass between the sidewalk and neighbor's fence and plant flowers in the same colors as your window box. Mulch well to keep the weeds down.
Also, power wash the sidewalk and paint the door a bright color, like scarlet or gold. Add a brand-new welcome mat.
Do the windows open? I would remove the big shrub it is probably quite old and refresh with some pretty flowers.
