Gaps? There should not be gaps. Can you post a photo? Sorry! If you are going to the expense of installing fencing, now is the time to install snake fencing to keep out as much wildlife as possible.

Something to think about if you have the need.
At this point I am not sure what you should do. To me the "gaps" would be too disturbing and I am distraught for you!
You could purchase benderboard to install, it is quick, easy and fast, and not expensive. Or line with decorative brick or rocks or stones.
Fencing is suppose to flow with the contours of the land. There should be no gaps.
Depends on how much work you want to do...I would probably put down dirt and make border gardens along the fence line using perrenials, but if you would like less maintenance you could break up the expanse by using bushes - either flowering shrubs or bushes/trees with different coloured leaves for interest (think smoke bush, purple leaf sand cherry, variegated/dappled willow, rose of Sharon etc. ) you could also place some climbers in those spots (climbing roses, trumpet vine, honeysuckle, clematis) add some yard art for interest and voila!
I would say not to fill with dirt as it will just aid in the contact the fence as with the ground and speed up the potential rot that may occur. Also later on having dirt means grass will likely grow and you will have to edge/trim the grass and in my case the fence is being whipped regularly by the trimmer and is looking damaged.
Im considering edging, weed barrier and mulch but I’m not sure that will solve all my problems or create new ones. I’m still brainstorm this project.
