I would ask for advice about the sturdiest and prettiest shrubs and plants for your foundation. You need color and a bit more bulk. Ask for plants that will grow only slightly taller than your foundation, not become giants and a maintenance nightmare. Comes up easily on Google if you put in your town name and Master Gardeners. They are a font of knowledge and enthusiasm. As is your Count Extension Service.

I would de-grass areas around your tree and lawn shrub. Surround with local rocks or inexpensive edging, and mulch. Make it big enough that you can plant daffodils or whatever around the shrub for spring.

I’m tempted to say shutters, but it’s hard to tell from a photo if you have the width. If not store-bought, you can fairly easily make board-and-batten shutters, or “farm-style”. Just look up exterior shutters on google to see what I mean. They will help make your house as important-looking as your lawn. Brighten up your door with paint.

Such a cute place. My first suggestion is shutters. That will make a world of difference. The vinyl ones at home improvement stores are surprisingly affordable and then there is building your own which is a little less expensive but requires upkeep. Then, plant something colorful across the front. Good luck!

Needs a little shrubbery. Look to Lowes stores especially on Mondays and Tuesdays. They reduce them. I have purchased serval azaleas and rhododendrons that had been blooming. They reduce when the blooms quit. What was $9.95 goes down to $3.00 in my community.

Depending on where you are located... roses can give good color and longevity.... BUT... check with your LOCAL nursery.... they will have some good recommendations for you too

I agree with the prior comments. Maybe burgundy shutters? Also, you might add hand rails on each side of the steps. If you add lattice to the cement wall down by the garage, you could plant vines to help cover it.

Perhaps a planter area (made from pallet wood or used bricks) in front under the window, a weeping willow tree in the center of the lawn on the right of the image or a raised bed of flowers in the center made of pallet wood or used bricks. Or just a circle of flowers. Or two tall skinny cypress or whatever is narrow next to each window on both sides of the stairs....total of 4 tall skinny trees.

Go with one of the colors you already have. A house should have three colors. I was thinking black. That is what I would use...the roof looks nearly black to me.

For a quick and big impact: I would make your big window your focal point. Under the window go with a combo of a large window flower box with two solar lanterns at the end of each side or go with two smaller window planter boxes with a solar lantern in the middle. Use a combo of real flowers and artificial. That way your planters always have color and you don't feel bad if you haven't watered your plants. If you go to the dollar stores and use coupons at hobby lobby or Michaels and get annuals from Lowe's or home depot, it should cost under $100.00 and you could do it in a few hours. I know shutters can be expensive, but they would look really nice.

How do you get to your front door ? It is not obvious from the street. I'm assuming you walk up the drive way and then there are stairs ? I would focus on making that more obvious. Maybe a railing ? Maybe a narrow planting bed that runs along side the stairs ? Plant some colorful flowers. Maybe a post with a welcome sign ?

Is there a flat spot in front of the big window ? Can you place a bright colored bench or andirondak chairs ?

If Red Twig Dogwood grows in your area, it would be a good choice to plant under the window.
