Suspended Fire Pit- super sturdy and won't budge. Any ideas?

To have a spa feel in my backyard and something a little different.
I found this huge and very heavy cauldron at my parents home being used as a flower pot. I love the cowboy cauldrons that you see in a local Scandinavian spa. So we decided to build our own. We drilled into both side of the posts about 8" down and fastened with the steel line to create a tripod. Then we hung the chain and attached the cauldron with the carbiners. Super sturdy and won't budge. Now to drill drainage hole. Ideas?

i have a couple of hanging cauldrons just like that...i drilled holes in bottom for drainage for my real plants in soil...but first i placed an upside down clay pot in it before filled with dirt...then planted various perinnials, ivys and annuals around the upside down pot...i place different size pots planted with different flowers or plants (real or silk) on top of upside down pot, seasonal or themed...fun to change the look as often as i want...one of my faves is placing a hurricane lamp or mason jar with a candle in it for a lovely effect...also solar lamps look great too...hope it gets your ideas flowing!!! enjoy!!

I tried a steel bit, but not a mark that I even tried to drill. I really need an idea of how everyone managed to do the drainage holes?

I would not drill holes in the pot, in case you changed your mind latter and used it for some other purpose. Would place a layer of drainage fill and plant charcoal in the bottom of the pot, then a layer of soil, and plant. I have used crushed plastic bottles as a fill layer along with charcoal. Would include chopped up sponges or gel beads to the soil to help with moisture if you live in a very hot climate area.
