We graveled a driveway and the owner of the dump truck that brought our gravel slowly drove forward while allowing gravel to flow from the back of his dump-truck. We had to do a little re-arranging of some of the gravel, but not much. See if someone in your area could do the same for you.
Most dump truck drivers will dump the gravel where you want and will even spread it slowly from the truck. What about hitching a small wagon up to a riding lawnmower and hauling it that way? That is what we are doing to a HUGE pile of firewood.
