Unique bird feeder!

Got this idea from a gentleman who wrote in to Birds & Blooms...I have a "practice" one in my back yard that the birds just love - especially when it rains! I have a lot more work to do to my shade garden....the mosquitoes are really bad today!

just wondering if the birds would be safe with the food so close to the ground. we have cats the prowl our yard looking for prey at the bird feeder. It certainly is colorful! did you use just ordinary household paint?

I don't put out bird feeders...except my son insists on those red humming bird hangers...which I hate because the ants love them so much! And I am fortunate enough to have lots of birds...in fact they poop all over my steps porch, bird houses, etc. HA! Just be aware that any food source will attract predators! I stopped putting out feeders when all the weeds started coming up under them! This year I had wasps build in one of my bird houses! While inspecting, one flew out and stung me! Bummer! But that is just part of the process of dealing with nature! Luckily, I am not allergic!

You have mice, squirrels, cats, and squirrels.......I personally would not use this type of feeder for birds..........or if you do....hang it.
